Practice of Astral Exploration

A traditional magical law says that repeated use of a magical utensil will tie specific energies to it. These energies will then be available whenever the utensil is part of your magical set up. With the utensil, therefore, there is no longer a need to actively and consciously draw the energies that the utensil represents. The utensil becomes a focal point for the energies that it represents. Its presence alone will ensure the drawing of the energies from the realms that the utensil represents. In other words, the utensil becomes a structural link with the realm that it represents. This means that your conscious and active mind is free for other things that are not routine whenever you use a utensil. This is the reason why magicians use many utensils in their ceremonies.

For the same reason it is to your advantage to establish an outer workspace when you practice with energies of a higher order such as the elements. The outer workspace as a whole will take on the aspect of being a complex utensil. It is a focal point for the energies that you are going to draw in your work.

In your work with the elements you arrange the outer workspace with the specific symbols that connect with the elements. The type arrangement that you choose will determine how easy it will be for you to draw the specific elementary energy

Protective Measures
Protective measures are good for any kind of magical work that evokes energies of a higher order. Explorations of the elemental realms are no exception. The main reason for protective measures in elementary work is that these energies may become too strong for you to handle when you are unprotected. With the protective measures you prevent the energies that you call from taking over after you have triggered them.

One of the most common practices of protection is the tracing of a circle around oneself. Of course it is not the circle in itself that protects but the intent that you project into this circle. Therefore, just tracing a circle will do nothing. You need to trace the circle and charge it with the idea of protection. You may set up such a circle by laying out a rope in circular fashion around yourself. Take a rope between 20 and 30 ft length. This gives you a circle between 6 and 10 ft diameter. After you have put the circular rope on the floor or ground, you imagine a sphere around yourself with the circle marking the position of this sphere. Project life energy into this sphere together with the visualization of the protective qualities that this circle has. You find more details about protective practices in my course "magic of the future" which is the first scientific approach to magic ever.

At a later date, when you will be grounded in your experience of Oneness, the outer circle will be unnecessary, because your Oneness with the Divine makes you the ruler of the energies of a higher order. At that point you will be fully protected by reason of your authority.

The Altar
For your work in this lesson, i.e., to explore the realm of the fire element, it will be good that you use symbolic representations of the fire element. You put these utensils onto your table, or altar, which you place outside your protective circle.

First you draw on the table a truing. This triangle confines the space where helpful fire elementals may materialize. Charge the triangle with the idea of retaining the elemental energies that may manifest in it. Then put objects into this triangle that represent the energies with which you are going to connect, in our case energies from the realms of the fire element. The simplest thing that symbolizes fire is a burning candle. You may also add a small triangle as the geometric shape that symbolizes the fire element and a wand. The wand represents your will. As you know your will is the manifestation of the fire element within yourself. Your will connects with the causal plane, which too is a representation of the fire element. If you are familiar with the Judeo-Christian Cabalah you may add the Hebrew letter YOD.

You keep in your mind the awareness that this your outer realm will draw energies from the cosmic realms of the fire element as soon as you light the candle. When you light the candle you may speak out something to the effect of drawing energies from the realms of the fire element such as "I am lighting this candle. Its flame will bring the energies of fire into this space." A very powerful method is to establish a custom tailored mantra that will instantly draw fire energies into your realm. This mantra will be an individual one for you. You can establish this mantra with a mantra generator, a new device that I have invented. You may purchase the mantra generator from HSCTI, P.O. Box 666033, Marietta, GA 30066.

The next thing you do is building up power in your outer realm. See yourself drawing fire energy from the universe and projecting it into the triangle. Do this practice as follows: Have your left arm stretched out away from the triangle, palm up. The right arm points toward the triangle. Breathe slowly and consciously. Knowledge of breathing techniques such as yoga is an advantage. While you inhale, visualize fire energy from the universe enter your body through the palm of your right hand. While you exhale, you project this energy into the triangle. You may give this energy a red color. Project more and more red into the triangle as you keep breathing. Proceed until you feel good about the amount of fire energy that you have accumulated in the triangle. You know that an accumulation of fire energy in the triangle will enhance your experience of the fire element and the realms of the will.

The Workspace Within Yourself
Now that you have established the outer realm, you proceed to establish a space within yourself where you can work with the elements and experience their astral realms. This is your inner realm of the elements. You will gradually expand this inner realm to be your inner realm of Oneness.

With your imagination you set up an inner realm that has if for your purposes. You need to feel good in this inner workspace. First you give this realm an outer form. You may imagine yourself being in a clearing in the woods, a beach, a temple, a mountain pear, a cave, of anything else that you like. You may change the looks of your inner realm at any time.

Next you imagine your realm being surrounded by a protective sphere, or bubble. This bubble will stay around you wherever you move in your inner realm.

Astral Travel
What you do next is to explore the various realms within. These realms connect with the astral planes. Your sphere of protection will be very useful when you start travelling in this realm.

In this inner workspace you are aware that you are the ruler of your energetic universe. You know that from this workspace you can reach the astral dimension of any energetic form, or realm, of the universe. Once you have estaer comes to you. This may be sounds, touch, visions, thoughts, etc. Your memory is stronger and this will help you recall most of these experiences so that you can write them down after you will have removed yourself from this realm. Some students like to interact with fire elementals, or Salamanders. This type interaction may take the form of a conversation, of a telepathic communication, or anything else.

The main purpose of this experience of astrally travelling through the elemental realm of fire is to get a good understanding of it. Once you have extensively explored that realm, you may connect with it whenever you want to do so. This experience takes the function of being like a utensil. However, this utensil does not have a material object as its focal point like other magical utensils. It is anchored within the realm of your inner workspace. Your access to the fire is a flaming triangle or whatever other shape you like to use. Gradually you will establish many such anchors, or gates, within your inner workspace. In this lesson you will learn to establish gates for the four elemental realms. If you study other forms of magic, you may open up realms to the various energetic hierarchies: the Runes, the planetary spheres, the realm of various groups of entities, mythological realms such as Christian saints, Voodoo deities, Egyptian gods, Tibetan deities, etc.

You may leave this realm whenever you feel a need or whenever you want to do so. For the first time, your astral travel in the realm of fire (or any other element) should not exceed 15 minutes. Gradually you may extend the time of your exploration to one hour. You need to know that it is not important how long you stay in a specific elemental realm, but it is the intensity of experience that counts.

While you explore your inner realm astrally, you do this with the awareness that it is connected with your outer realm and that both are connected with the cosmic realm of the element.

Practice: Being one with the will
After you have explored the realm of fire you proceed with the practice that follows. In this practice you need not establish your outer realm. If you do decide to make an outer realm, do it in a simple manner: Set a candle and the elemental triangle on your altar.

Next you establish your inner realm. You imagine yourself being there inside a circle (bubble) that surrounds you. This is your circle of protection. In front of yourself you see a flaming triangle that is the gateway to the elemental realm of the fire. The triangle also represents the fire element and your will. Inside the triangle you see fire in its many forms, like transparencies one within the other. You may see some of the fire spirits, or salamanders. You know that fire connects with your will and with the world of emanation. You are aware of your strength and that you are the dominating force of the energies of fire that are in your universe.

Now you repeat to yourself for six times:

I am all will.

Each time that you repeat, you focus on the fire in your inner realm.

Next you say one time:

I am one.

Again then you repeat for six times "I am all will," then once "I am one." Keep repeating for five to ten minutes. Think the words slowly and attentively.

End the exercise with a brief meditation. In this meditation wait for things to manifest in your experience: feelings, visions, etc.

The Four Elements

It's in us and everything, so how do we control and balance it?

The first step in working with a psychology of the four elements
involves creating elemental sensations within ourselves through
force of imagination. The sensation relating to each element has to
be fully felt. Once we can generate a particular sensation in
ourselves by will, we can then tie that sensation into the basic
qualities of the element. This approach illuminates many aspects of
the astral body which modern psychology fails to consider.
In regard to each of four elements, I refer you to my separate
essays on finding the sylph, gnome, salamander, and undine in
yourself. Though these articles derive directly from working with
elemental beings, I present the results as meditations which require
that you venture no further than the domain of your own
imagination.
Also see my different dialogues with the elemental beings. For all
their metaphysical explorations, these are not platonic dialogues.
They take place in a state of trance in which I encounter and wrestle
with the inner core essence of these marvelous spirits of nature. Yet
though I present these stories as journeys into invisible and magical
realms, the elemental beings embody treasures of spirit and feeling
which are part of our own nature.

Fire

We practice seeing and feeling fire. We evoke the sensation of
intense heat within ourselves. The basic procedure is to imagine
that our bodies are hollow inside and so able to accumulate any
energy we wish. When we are done, we imagine that the energy
dissolves again into the universe. Let us talk about the difficulties
with this concentration exercise.
Some individuals will be hesitant to work directly with fire. This
may be because fire is dangerous. It can burn you.
It may also be that they are uneasy with the idea of developing
their will and power. They may feel it is hard enough keeping one's
desires and impulses in check. If you develop your power, you
immediately run the risk of abusing that power. Passions out of
control may end up controlling you and causing all sorts of harm to
yourself and others. These concerns are very important and
individuals should listen to their own consciences on these matters.
You will recall from Greek mythology that Zeus chained the titan
Prometheus to a mountain crag and had hawks tear out his liver.
Zeus was mad at Prometheus for giving fire to the human race.
Each day the titan's liver would regenerate only to be torn out again.
The liver can be seen as representing natural growth and spiritual
consciousness. In bestowing the gift of fire to humanity,
Prometheus was giving power without the spiritual ability to know
how to use it wisely.
One way to work with the element of fire is to review fire in all
the ways it exists in nature, in society, and within ourselves. Life
was able to appear on our planet because of the heat and light of the
sun. But it took billions of years for this to occur and the earth had
to have a stable orbit and the right distance from the sun.
There are many forms of fire which exist in nature. The volcano
and forest fire are impersonal forces and extremely dangerous to
life. And yet the fire in the earth moves continents, uplifts
mountains, creates islands, and provides a variety of ecological
habitats. As civilization has developed, we have learned to use the
wood, coal, coke, oil, and gas fires turning their heat to productive
ends. Consider the history of technology and both the positive and
negative purposes to which fire has been dedicated. Fire itself, like
a knife, can be used for healthy or for destructive ends.
Consider also the importance of warmth and heat to the human
body. For the past thirty thousand years, we have managed to
survive ice ages, winters, and freezing environments. We have
developed clothing, insulation, and various heating systems to keep
us warm. We have used fire to cook and produce many new kinds
of food.
The point is that if you imagine your body filled with fiery flames
and heat you encounter a racial memory of all that fire means.
When you are evoking fire within yourself through the force of your
imagination, you need to make peace with both its productive and its
destructive aspects. You have to be comfortable with your ability to
use its power in natural ways which fulfil spiritual purposes.
On the other hand, try as they may some individuals will find it
hard to form a sensation of heat through concentration. They may
visualize a fire in front of them. They can just as easily see a fire
inside of their bodies. But nothing happens. There is no sensation
of heat which accompanies this imagery.
If, for example, the individual repeatedly places his hands near a
fire, he is still unable to get his nervous system to reproduce the
sensation of heat through concentration. The problem here is that
the individual's concentration on the mental plane is unable to
produce astral sensations. The astral body adds feelings of life and
immediacy to the imagery. When your concentration is effective on
the astral plane, as in a dream, you feel you are really there amid
whatever your visualize.
There are any number of ways of resolving this difficulty.
Basically, the idea is to become the fire. Make the fire part of
yourself. Treat fire as an extension of your own aura. Nourish it.
Care for it. Offer it welcome. Invite fire into yourself so it finds a
home and a place where it can grow strong.
For example, take some time to imagine you are collecting some
dry leaves and wood so that you can start an open fire out of doors.
Give your full attention to the match as it ignites and then starts the
dry leaves and wood burning. Assist the fire by placing small twigs
into the flames so that it can take hold. Then place a pan of water
over the fire with the intent you are going to bring the water to a
boil.
Assume the role of the fire like a cheerleader who encourages her
team to succeed. Become the heat which starts small bubbles and
then larger ones to appear in the water until the water finally boils.
Then imagine this entire visualization has taken place within your
own body. If in some way you can place emotion into your activity,
then it is easy to full the sensations which occur on the astral plane.
The heat in the fire then moves from a mental picture to an actual
sensation which is intense enough to feel real.
As I have pointed out elsewhere, there are Tibetan yogis who
visualize fire and manage to increase their body temperature by
seventeen degrees. This is no longer just a perceived sensation.
Scientists have measured it with a thermometer.
The next step is to imagine and believe quite clearly that the
presence of this element within yourself is the same as embodying
will. In psychological terms, fire radiates urgency, power, and light.
It is full of conviction and it dissolves fear. Because of its warmth
and dynamic presence, it gathers others to itself. It offers leadership,
courage, and a zest for living life.
Consider the affirmation: "I am a strong and assertive individual.
I present myself in a clear and convincing way to other people." It
is possible to form a picture in your mind that you indeed embody
these qualities. But others may still see you as a whimp. They may
treat you like you are helpless and ineffective.
The reason for this is that you have failed to create an astral
component for this thought form. Your aura does not radiate any
power or charisma. The task is to combine the mental affirmation
with an astral sensation which radiates fiery power. Others will then
immediately feel the warmth of your aura and a source of power
within you which can take charge of any situation.
Again, there is the other extreme. Some individuals will find it
easy to produce in themselves the hot, burning sensation of a fire.
Some individuals with ease can imagine the entire world as one vast
sea of flames and feel that heat extending around them for miles.
They can do this because they have a natural ability or else they
have a vivid astral imagination.
But there may be a downside to this. If they expand the fire
element in their auras, they may lack the ethics, character, and
commitment to use this force wisely. Sometimes at a red light, an
individual in one car with casually glance at someone in another car.
The second person may have an astral body full of fire which is
ready to ignite. The glance is like striking a match. The encounter
results in violence.
In this case, the feeling of power with its urgent need to act and to
dominate the situation produces negative results. The fire has not
been channeled through an alert and clear mind. Blind emotion has
taken control.
Consequently, when the fiery element in the astral body is easily
stimulated, the individual has to spend more time working on the
mental plane. The purposes for which will and power are to be
used must be carefully reviewed. The individual has to identity and
commit himself to core values which are persuasive enough to hold
the negative aspects of fire in check.

Air

As with fire, you imagine your body is a hollow space and that only
the air element exists within you. You might imagine yourself to be
like a helium balloon so you feel weightless. You feel yourself float
up into the sky. The sensation of weightlessness and floating is
basic.
Then you extend your imagination further. You imagine the
winds are part of your body. The vacuum into which air flows is
like your lungs exerting a pull as you inhale. Actually, there is a
rhythmic flow in the winds and the seasons which is like breathing.
Like a sylph, you probe and search for the harmony underlying air
movements and weather patterns.
And finally you become the winds. If you open your mind and
meditate, you become the trade winds, the north wind, the
hurricane, the thunderstorm, and the tiny gust that twirls the leaves
in your garden. In meditation, there is no light or energy the mind
can not find and reproduce to some extent within itself. Becoming
familiar with the sky is just a matter of practice and taking time.
The air element can also be overdeveloped within an individual.
If you make astral contact with the air element or communicate with
sylphs, there is a tendency for the other elements in yourself to be
shoved aside. This may lead you to a part of yourself which is wild
and restless. It is impersonal, distant, and aloof. It is not at all
concerned with the worries and responsibilities of human beings. It
knows itself to be free and so it no longer cares about the demands
of society, personality, or human feeling.
An individual with this passive aspect of the air element may be
alert, detached, and balanced within himself. But he can also be
insensitive to the extent of becoming amoral. This is not new
information. Psychology talks about psychopaths and authors write
about individuals who have lost their connections to others.
However, the phenomenon I am describing derives from an astral
enchantment. Part of the individual's astral body is no longer
focused on human existence. The individual perceives the way a
sylph perceives or as the fairies of lore who enchant human beings
to come away with them to the inner planes. As William Butler
Yeats describes it:

Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a fairy, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

Again, psychologists such as Carl Jung have written about a circle of
enchantment which holds human beings in enthrallment. The
individual is haunted and possessed by what is unfilled in the past,
by the unmet needs of childhood and family. He does not see the
actual situations he enters and other human beings as they are but
only a distorted reflection, an illusion seen from afar. Giving and
receiving, bonding, and intimacy are twisted and bent because the
heart is incomplete.
But the enchantment of air is slightly different. The individual has
an over abundance of the air element which lacks positive
expression. There is nothing a matter with having a sylph's
heightened awareness. The Dalai Lama's weather controller
possesses this as did ancient druids.
The sylph's sensitivity can take the form of a detachment which
blends freedom with a delight in pure perception. It is a thrilling
experience as are hang gliding and parasailing. It is easy when you
feel this relaxed and free to say to yourself, "I am not a human
being. The life within me is altogether different that from what
others feel and see." When we are at play or entertained, we may
temporarily feel the same thing. We give ourselves permission to
forget about the rest of life for the duration.
But this suspending of daily demands, besides being a way to
recharge ourselves, has a productive side. An altered state of
perception enables us to see the world in new ways. The challenge is
to share this with others.
The poet does this. He perceive the delicate fragility and the
hidden beauty shining within each moment. When he writes or
speaks, he is sufficiently distant that he can savor pure feelings. But
he knows these feelings can only be expressed, found and met,
within the details and specific experiences of our lives. Each poem
is a steppingstone leading across the stream separating humanity
from the realms of fairy and the astral plane.
The artist does this. He says, "Behold my art. It is a creation of
my imagination. Its images are a mirror capturing the light I see
reflected in life." And musicians do this when the music is just
right. They are no longer aware of themselves. The notes carry
them along. The song takes on its own life and they are within both
the human plane and another domain.
Too much airy substance in the soul tempts us all to let go and
forget our ties to others. Legend tells us of a race which could not
longer compete with human beings and so retreated from our world
to become a race of fairies. But even to these we might now say,
"Return again and dwell among us. Share with us the things you
see and know that we too might behold the beauty of the world
around us." The remedy is not to retreat into detachment and a
realm of inner peace but to create new ways of sharing heart to
heart.
And finally there is the basic problem of developing astral
sensitivity. Many individuals see no further than the activities of
their daily lives. The consequence is that their emotional life is
limited in scope. In fact, most religions guide their practitioners into
a few sets of sacred experiences which are charged with astral
energy. Conversion, devotion, rapture, and commitment are
controlled and channeled in acceptable ways. Other profound
emotional experiences are labeled taboo and placed off limits or else
are ignored and considered to be irrelevant.
But if you look at a cloud it is constantly changing. If you focus
on a feeling within you and give it enough space to move, it will
continuously transform. Feelings are like the waters of the earth.
They run in underground streams. They are in the lakes, the seas,
the clouds, the rivers, the rain, and the ice caps.
A sylph is aware of every aspect of a changing cloud and yet the
sylph remains detached. To work with the air element is to have
both inner balance and a sensitivity to every nuance and aspect of
feelings. Developing this sensitivity is something which psychology
shares in common with magick. Elsewhere I write about the method
of focusing which bridges the gap between transpersonal psychology
and magical practice.

Water

To develop the sensation of water which is cold and wet, imagine
you are swimming and diving in a stream, river, lake, or ocean. It is
possible to extend your meditations along these lines until the
sensations of water become quite strong. At some point along the
way, imagine yourself becoming the water surrounding your body.
Feel the swimmer and the diver moving through your space. And
again feel the coldness of water within your body as if your body is
hollow inside.
In my various stories about my encounters with the undines, I go
into detailed descriptions about their specific astral natures. The
four I describe are all loving, receptive, sensitive, empathic, healing,
and nurturing. Also, they each have a slightly different way they
communicate the bliss and ecstasy within the water element. These
undines are very enchanting and possess many magical secrets
relating to the water element.
From my experience, undines extend their auras out into the
watery domains surrounding them. If they wish to create an
atmosphere like a wondrous festival full of dancing and song, the
water is magnetized to express their feeling. If they wish to
communicate a profound state of oneness and love, again, the water
element becomes a vehicle which carries and amplifies their
intentions.
Our task in exploring the psychology of water is to do something
similar. Once we can clearly produce the sensations of cold water in
and around ourselves, then we imagine that this watery expanse acts
to express our feelings. Water absorbs, releases, flows and
circulates energy. In a similar way, our aura encompasses and
revives the life of those with whom we have contact. It produces a
magical space in which individuals are free to be receptive to each
other and to feel acceptance and love.
As with the other elements, we now combine the energies of the
mental and astral planes. We need a clear definition and
commitment in our minds to all that water represents in its highest
sense. Again, the qualities are love, healing, nurturing, sensitivity,
acceptance, clairsentience, serenity, tranquility, purity, and so forth.
And we need a total and complete conviction that we exist within
and are a part of a magnetic watery field of energy flowing through
us and encompassing ourselves and others as well.
Both the mental and astral planes with their different approach to
water must then be united in a natural way. Part of our success in
this endeavor will arise from our study and appreciation of other
individuals who express feelings and ideals of love in their
personalities. And part of our work will involve recognizing the
great variety of sensations and ways in which water exists in the
world of nature. Again, I have given examples through poems and
stories of ways the undines have sought to deepen my understanding
of the environment and element of water in which they live.
Ultimately, their domain and their range of activities are also our
own.

Earth

If we conceive of fire as will, air as intelligence and clarity of mind,
and water as love and affection, what then shall we make of the
element of earth? In way can earth represent the integration and
strength of consciousness?
The granite boulder is stable. It retains its shape, its form and
mass, and only very gradually changes. The precious stone is harder
and more enduring and yet its structure permits the energy of light
to pass through it. Ice is water in a solid form. Its molecules though
fixed cover a wider expanse so that it floats. Air is in water and
water is in the volcanic magma as it explodes. As the heat is
released, the flowing lava turns to stone.
Plants grow on the rich nutrients of volcanic islands. Topsoil
develops and then forests. The land mass provides an environment
where life can flourish.
Consciousness integrates the different aspects of ourselves. It is
the enduring and stable landscape where our soul and spirit
accomplish their tasks. Consciousness sets priorities, identifies
values, and applies its resources and time to productive ends. There
are conflicts between values, goals, desires, and different
individuals. Consciousness uses the understanding of air, the will of
fire, and the empathy of water to arrive at practical and satisfying
solutions.
The main sensations we are after with the earth element are
weight and density. You imagine yourself as a little more heavy.
Like a tree, you are rooted in the ground. Like a boulder, you are
solid and easily resist external influence. Increasing your sense of
weight and being grounded are part of the arts of Aikido and also
Tai Chi Chuan.
With the right piece of rock, there is a sense of time being
suspended. You remember the past. Your endure for ages. Even
the far future feels near at hand. The earth element has a stronger
continuity. Past, present, and future form a continuum. The events
of life occur along a time line. You do not have to rush anywhere.
You just use the present moment in the best way you can.
I place my hand on a standing stone five thousand years old.
There is nothing fancy about this stone circle. It seems quite casual
like an afterthought the way it is set down at the end of a cow
pasture on Mull Island, Scotland. But I think to myself that all the
events of human history from the Egyptian pyramids to the present
unfolded while these stone have stood here and waited.
Consciousness can take the events of our lives and give them
order and definition. It can say, "This relationship and that event
are important to me. They always will be. These ideals I live for--
they are what give my life purpose. You see, amid all the changes--
the accidents, the failures, and the wrong turns--there is a core set of
values within myself which I uphold and experiences which I
honor."
Fire is tenacious but earth is persevering. Water offers love and
support, sweet intimacy and pleasure. But earth builds and provides
those things which satisfy our deepest desires. The air element likes
to think and to reason. It offers clarity so vast that the thought
process is lost in the illumination. But the earth element knows in its
heart that it is alive and participates in those purposes which endure
through all ages of time.
Earth cuts to the bottom line. It is not distracted by the urgency
and rapacious hunger of fire and all the issues surrounding the
maintenance of power. It is not so easily distracted by the
enchantments, romance, and passions of love. And though it too
seeks and reaches for peaks of understanding and illumination, it
does not fly off content to be detached or aloof.
Earth stays focused on the concrete and practical ways we can
materialize our ideals and operate in an effective manner in
accordance with our core values. It leaves behind a legacy. It
provides a foundation upon which future generations will build.
And if this sounds too abstract, then we can apply the same to our
own lives. In each stage of our life, we act with integrity and
accomplish our basic tasks. Then we are able to move forward and
succeed with what comes next.
In summary, this is only a tiny introduction to the psychology of
the four elements. I have not discussed here the ecstasies of the
four elements. And there are the four divine attributes relating to
different elements--omnipotence, enlightenment, omnipresence or
all-encompassing love, and immortality.
I have suggested elsewhere that the twelve signs of the zodiac
and astrology also provide insight into the four elements. An
important step in this area will be identifying for each of the twelve
signs of the zodiac its corresponding elemental sensation. Then that
rich set of symbols and interpretations can be integrated into the
psychology of the elements. To do this will require a shamanisticapproach to the symbols which characterize the zodiac signs.

Religion and Technology

At the dawn of mankind, religion was technology and technology was religion. To some extent this still holds for some of the "primitive" peoples of our times who have not yet been touched by technological advancement nor have their senses been destroyed as a result of indoctrination by organized mass religions.

At a relatively early point in human evolution a split occurred. Things that people saw as "tangible" they considered to be "technological" while that which was not tangible belonged to the realms of the Divine, later religion.

Science attempted to discover structures and natural laws in the tangible world while the metaphysical systems and theologies attempted to describe that which is going on in the intangible world. The more scientific thought advanced in recent times, the more things that were supposed to be tangible turned out not to be that tangible after all. At the same time new scientific systems developed that began to probe into the many worlds of things intangible. The seemingly sharp demarcation between that which is religious and psychic and that which is technological and scientific proved more and more to be arbitrary, if not illusionary.

On the other hand, researchers on the metaphysical side became more and more aware of the usefulness of scientific models and of scientific rigor. Most metaphysicists of our times however are not yet fully aware of the usefulness of this beneficial development. Most of them are still exhibiting a total lack of scientific training. Some even go sop far to carry hostility against scientific thought and methods. Sadly enough, it is the scientific half wits, or quarter wits, that control much of the metaphysical thinking of our times. The time for change is more than necessary. This is so because more and more people open up to the fact that things spiritual and psychic are as valid as things that are scientific and technological, in fact that the two are inseparable. We have to come to the conclusion that a spiritual, or inner, reality that is independent of or in contrast to an outer, or scientific, reality does not exist. Both realities coexist.

Again psychic technologies and spiritual advancement as well as material technologies may be considered to be facets of one and the same evolutionary process. For humans to achieve their fullest evolutionary potential, they have to include both technologies. The result of such a development is an all inclusive metaphysical technology, or a technological metaphysic. This is a discipline that can be the way to interact with all accessible levels of consciousness, or existence. It is interaction that reaches from the material planes all the way to the realms of energies of a higher order and energies of the realms of creation. We are at the threshold of an all encompassing and true magic.

Remote Influencing Or How Hexes & Curses Work

I have heard people talking recently about remote influencing. All magic is remotely influencing something. Magic is manipulating your environment. You can use the energy to make something good happen or you can use it to hex or curse someone. I will mainly talk about negatively influencing someone in life.
Everyone has what I call an energy signature. This is the vibration, pitch, colors and combined tones that says what they are in this lifetime. These can be changed or influenced by our decisions in life. They can be changed by the negative emotions and addictive behaviors. This pattern can be changed or affected by hexing or cursing.
This energy signature forms a line for the length of the person's time on this earth. I call this the person's time line. The time line has other lines joining it and splitting off from it. The lines splitting off from it are decisions that the person makes about their life. The moments when there are multiple decisions on the choices in a person's life is called a node. My best description of nodes is to glue a bunch of string to a balloon. Let the glue dry and then pop the balloon. You will then have an idea of what a node looks like.
All the time lines run together in a river and there is support for this theory in different literature. The Buddhists mention it in their literature for just one example. Choices are flexible and can be changed; but the only time this normally happens is in a node. Decisions cause a course of action to be set in someone's life and the only way to change it is to go to a different course of action. This is done in a node.
I stated in the magical theory how spells work. Hexes work within these guidelines. The different types of hexes are these.
1. Violent action causing death or injuries.
2. Mental damage.
3. Affecting everything around the person causing them to only be able to make bad choices.
There is a gray area in this category involving snooping or spying upon another person. If you believe someone is trying to snoop or spy upon you to find out some fact. The easiest way to stop this is to visualize all of your thoughts bouncing around like hot popcorn seeds. You visualize them as hard little pellets and the person trying to do this will have a violent headache.
One other method is to match the victim's energy signature and attempt to lay the person's influence over the victim's. The way to stop this is by sealing the aura or sending out an extra high pitched vibration. The energy signature will be impossible to match especially if you make your aura vibrate differently to different vibrations until the person leaves you alone.
The hexes to cause violent harm to happen to someone can be remedied and are normally very simple. This again is the voodoo doll or other basic methods. They don't match the person's energy signature except by using something of the victim's and can be undone by a simple spell.
The hexes to cause mental damage and to affect everything around the person are a lot harder to correct. Everyone broadcasts what type of person they are in their aura and by their energy signature. Some people can shield this by setting up personal wards so nothing can influence it. The normal person is vulnerable to attack by others who know how to throw hexes. The first thing is they match the energy signature. The second thing is they see what the time line looks like and what choices are branching off from the time line. They then block every choice that can be said to bring good energy or good luck to the victim.
A lot of the people casting the hexes can't see this consciously but that is what the hexes are designed to do. Hexes and curses are designed to make the person miserable for the rest of their life that fall into this category. They make people treat them differently because it is like a bad smell coming off of them. They broadcast a energy signature that is different from what the person is like in real life.
Con men and actors are good at projecting this energy signature and hiding their real energy signature without even thinking about this fact.
The hexes incorporating this into the spell are very complex and hard to undo. The person undoing this type of hexes has to be able to open up the good choices again for the person and remove the other influences.
A lot of methods involve taking a piece of the victim's etheric self. The person undoing this type of spell has to be able to travel in alternate realities and dimensions to retrieve the piece of the victim's self. The simple hex-removers or banishing will remove a lot of this but at times a expert is needed.

Understanding Entities & Defending Yourself

There are many as many different types of entities as there are cultures and different people on this planet. They all have certain similarities even with all the diverse cultures and different climates. We have a tendency to ignore all of the myths and legends as superstition or tall tales. I believe that there is a lot more truth to these myths than anyone really knows.
Entities can be put into two major groups and divided into subgroups after that. These are:
1.Good entities
a.Angels
b.Gods
c.Helpful spirits
i.elemental spirits
ii.planetary spirits
iii.ancestral spirits
2.Bad entities
a.Demons
b.Gods
c.Dual-natured spirits
i.elemental spirits
ii.planetary spirits
iii.ancestral spirits
Most of this is self-explanatory except for the helpful and dual natured spirits. Elementals can be of either good or bad intentions. It depends upon the elemental and how you meet them. The basic types are air, water, fire and earth. They have elementals that can be considered blends of the different types of elements. The best thing to do is to leave them alone unless they come up to you and volunteer to help.
Planetary spirits are next. They also have a dual nature and there are good and bad spirits. Some demons have planetary and elemental aspects to them. The planets are Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Moon, Sun, Neptune, and Uranus. A good book on astrology or candle-burning will tell you the different aspects. You can tell by the subjects listed why they are considered to have a dual nature.
Ancestral spirits are also included in this description because they have a dual nature. There are many cultural and tribal legends about how to appease the ghosts of the ancestors. There are also many tales about avoiding angry ghosts in every culture on this earth. Included in this are earth spirits that are animal based or nature based. You also hear tales of helpful ghosts and earth spirits. Voodoo provides a ready base about dual-natured spirits. The voodoo loas have dual natures and can do good or evil depending upon how they appear and which loa is aspected.
All of these spirits that are of a dual nature can do good or bad. It all depends upon their nature and the circumstances of when and where you meet them.
I also have to mention that I am including the gods in both groups because of the many legends and myths that show different gods that do different things. These things are not always good and every culture has a good versus evil theme to their legends.
In the world of today there have been many new and different types of entities evolving. The types and appearances have changed but they seem to have one thing in common. Our environment is not natural for them. They seem to have an elemental or planetary nature. They aren't very smart and they seem to mainly be drawing energy off of human beings for their own uses. These minor spirits are capable of damaging the health and environment of anyone that they attach their links too.
The main reason the methods of self defense work is because of the nature of all of these entities. Every thing has a certain type of energy. This includes rocks and stones as much as people. Everything can absorb the energy of events that happen around it. You can pick up a volcanic rock and hold it in your left hand. Sense the impressions you get off of it.
These entities need a certain type of energy to be able to exist in our environment. I have observed that when a person has an entity of the negative or bad sort attached to them-they also have similar problems. The entities seem to feed off of what would be called the bad emotions. These emotions are anger, rage, suspicion, jealousy, hate, lust, greed, fear, envy and all of their variations. I would like you to think how many people are visible nowadays showing these emotions all of the time. No one seems to know what they are as a person anymore. I wonder how many of these people have entities attached to them.
Every method that you can find in books or by researching in libraries that are used for magical self-defense changes the vibrations present in an area. This makes it so the energy for these entities to survive isn't present. They have to leave and go elsewhere to exist. This is essential for getting rid of crossed circumstances and entities. You banish the energy that is used to make it possible for those things to happen.
The next question is always "How can I do that-everyone always has bad things happen to them." It is true that as long as we're alive nothing is going to go perfectly all of the time. We can make life a lot easier on ourselves by just using some simple methods.
The first thing to do is use self-introspection. You have to impartially look at yourself and be sure that this is how you want to act. You then know when you are being used by something else. You know when it isn't in your nature to act the way you're acting. You can also see how your life might be being influenced by negative influences. If you can truthfully say this isn't me and no one has things like this happen. You can then take the next step.
The next step is to observe everything. I always suggest looking at things out of the corner of your eyes to see if anything seems to flicker or move. Observe your charkas and see if there anything dark or nasty attached to them. Do you feel energy being sucked out of your body or drained all of the time. Does everything seem to be put on hold or delayed in your life? What is your emotional state all of the time. Write down everything you observe and see if you could be being influenced by something else. You can notice these entities also when you can't seem to quit being in a negative mood. I call it a negative mood when any of the above emotions are a constant in your life. I find a lot of the people who are affected by entities can't remember the last time in their lives that they were happy or felt safe.
I then suggest that if you really believe you are being hexed or have an entity attached to you that you do research. There are many different things that raise the energies and the vibrations in an area. The higher pitched vibrations are better. Music is just one of them. There are many books in bookstores and libraries with methods of banishing or exorcising a place or area. If you don't believe you can handle the problems yourself talk with someone else that can give advice or help you.
You decide what method you want to use and decide when to do it. Don't vary the instructions or change the method. Do it exactly the way that it says to perform the method. If you do change it write down what you do and keep a record of it. This is very important as no one can help you if they can't figure out what you've done.
You do everything correctly and then look at your space. You can see the energy glowing a brilliant color that is friendly and welcoming. Your aura has changed colors and looks brighter. All of this happens because you raised the energy vibrations to make it where good spirits want to be there to help you. Any good energy and spirits always feels right and welcoming. Harsh energies and colors mean that you still have work to do. Murky energy and colors mean a problem also.
The whole key to making any of these methods work is to have the high vibration energy around you and in your space. It provides a barrier so none of the negative forces can enter. It also makes it so anything that can enter will have good intentions and be helpful to you. I hope that this article has been helpful to you. You can also bring good into your life by using these methods.
1. You have thoughts and feelings that are unusual for you or you feel that they aren't your own feelings.
2. You feel that everything around you is going wrong and you have no way to figure out why this is happening.
3. You are having an extreme change in physical health and no energy at all for doing the normal things in your life.
This can be a factor in normal life but not all the conditions at the same time when you've been seeing something out of the corner of your eye. There are many different types of problems that could be just dismissed as normal life until all the factors are added together.
Problems with people can't be categorized as quickly as entity problems. The most obvious one is who do you have mad at you and what do they know. You then have to ask would they be willing to hurt or harm someone using what they know. I can truthfully say that most people who know magic of any sort do not go around throwing hexes or curses on someone. They are normally people who work hard upon themselves and their flaws. The few people that do this have given most of the other people a bad name.
The symptoms to watch out for if you have been hexed or cursed are diverse. There are people who effect others lives and are willing to do it.
1. Did they threaten you with magic? All the people I have met who do this let you know what they are doing. They want you to fear them because they can use that emotion to make their spell work.
2. How is your life going? I have noticed most hexed people can talk about their miraculous escapes from death or other problems in life. You hear them talk and then everyone thinks "How could anyone have that many things go wrong at once."
3. Have you been having multiple nightmares of people or things causing you to be upset.
4. Do you occasionally hear chanting, or smell incense and odors. I have noticed that most people being hexed hear or know the people are doing things on some level.
5. Do you see things out of the corner of your vision. I also have noticed that people do occasionally see images of things or people. You don't have to be trained to notice this.
I have helped many people in the past and hope to help more in the future with psychic problems. All of those people would have been able to change their lives for the better if they had known how to defend themselves. I have heard many people say you attract what you deserve. This is not true as a lot of the people that have been victims with these problems are really nice, decent people. The people who try to do the most good sometimes have the most problems.

TRAINING TO SEE AURAS V4 Part 7

25. Practise and time:

It takes practise to see the human aura, so don't be
disappointed if you fail, or see very little the first few
times you try. If you managed to see the aura of the original
blue book, you CAN learn to see the human aura.

Using this training method stimulates the brow centre, which
is responsible for all types of non-physical sight. With
use, it will grow in strength and seeing auras will become
progressively easier to do. It may take weeks, before you get
your first, proper glimpse of the human aura, if you have
poor natural ability for this - but with practise, as I did,
you WILL eventually be able to see it.

I suggest that you practise the mental opening and stimulation
exercises, and observe auras for at least a few minutes every
day. This will stimulate your brow centres development.

26. Spontaneous auric sight:

You will find there will be days when auras are very
difficult to see. You will also find there are days when
auras just appear around people and objects, without any
conscious effort on your part to see them. You will find
this happening at odd times, when your brow centre is, for
some reason, very active. You may be sitting down talking to
someone, and all of a sudden you will see their aura, or
the aura of their clothing, with no effort at all.

Episodes of strong, spontaneous auric sight, will happen
frequently, once you begin stimulating and developing your
brow centre, through the practise of observing auras.

A letter showing this:

Eric: "I have been practising your method daily, for over
a month now, but have not succeeded in seeing much of a
human aura, until now. I can usually see the auras of
colours and plants, and can see my own aura fine. Up
until now, I have only been able to see the auras of
colour, the etheric and some patches of distortion around
people, when I try and see their auras.

Yesterday, I was working on my computer, and my girlfriend
came into my room. She had just showered and was getting
dressed. I just looked at her and "BOOM!!!" there was this
huge aura all around her. It was really beautiful and solid
looking. It was mostly green around her body with a yellow
glow around her head. Oh - there were some red and orange
patches around her hips and stomach.

I was not trying to see her aura. I was trying to finish
my work and was very tired, what with exams coming up the next
week. It just appeared around her like magic.

What happened, how could I see it without trying to? I tried
the next day, but couldn't see it again. What happened?"

Me: Bravo Eric! You are doing extremely well. What you saw
was the full living aura of your girlfriend. I take it she was
naked when you saw it? This would have helped you to get a
better view of it. This is spontaneous auric sight, caused by
all the practise you have been doing - seeing auras. This
will happen more frequently, from now on. It will just happen,
from time to time, when your brow centre is very active, for
some reason or other. This is a sign your brow centre is
responding well to the exercises I gave you, and developing
nicely. Your dreams should also increase in frequency and become
much more vivid, with more lucid dreams etc. This is another
sign of your brow centre developing.

This, above, is a good example of spontaneous auric sight. Eric was
tired and relaxed, when it first happened - the perfect state for
seeing auras. He had been practising auric sight exercises for several
weeks. This had stimulated his brow centre, causing bouts of spontaneous
auric sight to happen.

Eric was lucky enough to have a naked subject for his first
view of an aura, showing him the full human aura, with no
interference from clothing etc. With Eric, this sort of thing
happened every few weeks, for about a year. It then
increased in frequency, happening about once a week, on
average. Sometimes this only showed him a patch of colour on
someone, for a few seconds - at other times, he sees a full
aura.

After Eric had this first bout of spontaneous auric sight, he
found it much easier to see the human aura, when he tried. He
still cannot see the whole aura - when he wants to - unless it
happens spontaneously. He can now, though, see bands and
patches of colours in peoples auras, that he could not see
before.

27. Close:

I have taught many people to see the aura using this, above,
method. The fast results, in the early stages, help to build
confidence and keep interest high. This ensures enough work
and effort is put in to get the desired results - seeing the
human aura.

Once you have seen your first aura, you have taken your first
step into a much larger, and more colourful world. If you
practise and graduate to seeing, even a glimpse, of the
illusive human aura, then you are making very good progress
indeed, and your brow centre is showing it's development -
through your increased ability. The next step from this is to
develop clairvoyance. This is the ability to see the more
subtle energies in the world around you. These energies
contain within them: karmic influences, life conditions, the
results of past actions, and future events and probabilities -
plus lots of other exciting and interesting stuff. This
energy is seen, clairvoyantly, as metaphoric imagery, full of
richly symbolic meaning. This is seen as anything from a
simple still picture, to a full coloured, motion picture
quality, mind's eye vision.

TRAINING TO SEE AURAS V4 Part 6

* Back to the coloured book:

While you are gazing steadily, with a relaxed focus, at your
blue or red covered book - recreate the same mental action,
as described above. Shift your bodily awareness to the area
between your eyes. Feel this area with your mind -
concentrate all of your sense of feel, your bodily awareness,
on this area.

Tip: Lightly scratch the skin directly between your eyes, and
just above it, in the centre of
your brow, with a fingernail. This will help you to
zero in on that spot with your bodily
awareness.

Shift your bodily awareness to the area between your eyes -
concentrate on being aware of that area!

Mentally lift this whole area - as if you were trying to force
your eyelids to open - but do not allow the muscles in this
area to tense up or respond in any way (this is all mental).

Isolate the mental command that lifts your eyelids. Observe
yourself closely. Imagine your eyes are very heavy, and let
them close on you, and open them a few times. Observe which
muscles you use to do this. Use this same muscle command -
with your mind based bodily awareness, in that area - but
without letting your eyelid muscles obey.

Do this over and over again - lifting, lifting, lifting - as
if you were lifting a heavy shadow from behind your eyes .

Repeat this action, over and over, but do not allow yourself -
or any muscles - to tense up or respond. This is a bit tricky
to, start with, but easily mastered with a little practise.

This mental opening action is _very_ important. It is the
first step in learning how to control your brow centre and,
later, the rest of your energy body - if you decide to
progress to developing full clairvoyance and other psychic
abilities.

In the early stages, it does not matter if you feel you are
lifting too large an area over your brow. Even if you are
lifting right across the whole front of your forehead - it
will still have an opening effect on your brow centre. With
practise, you will be able to narrow the focus of this mental
opening action - to the brow centre area alone.

If you keep up this mental opening action, you will stimulate
your brow centre - forcing it to become active. Your steady,
relaxed focus, on your subject, will tune your brow centre
into the energy given off by it. This energy will be passed
along to the sight centre of your brain. There, it will be
interpreted as a sight picture - a bright band of coloured
light.

Tip. When you have isolated this opening action, and can do
it mentally, you will find one side of the veil behind your
eyes easier to lift than the other - usually the right is
easier. Basically, his feeling is caused by the two
different hemispheres of your brain - one is much easier to
use than the other. If this is a problem, use a clockwise
swirling mental action, over the site of the brow centre, to
stimulate it. By clockwise, I mean clockwise from the
inside. Use the same mental muscle command we talked about
above, as with opening tired eyes, but swirl it, as if you
were mentally stirring that area with a pencil.

It is best to alternate between the main opening
action, and this swirling action, when trying to activate
your brow centre. The main opening action is still needed
to tune your brow centre into an aura.

Note. Remember: all these energy stimulation exercises
depend upon localised bodily awareness, specifically -
localised surface awareness on the skin. You have to FEEL
these mental actions happening, in order to make them effective.

Your first aura:

While you are doing all the above, patiently keep up your
relaxed gaze, just to the side and past your subject. After a
while (anything from a few seconds to several minutes - in the
early stages) you will see a faint shimmering in the air,
around the book. Then, you will see a pale, narrow band of
light build up, close to the edge of the book. This is the
books etheric aura.

*Stay relaxed!

*Don't change your focus - in any way!

*Don't look directly at it!

*Blink if you have to - it will come back quickly!

Soon, a bright-yellow aura (blue book) or bright-green aura
(red book) will start building up, from the pale, etheric band
around the book. If you change your focus, tense up, or look
directly at it - the aura will vanish instantly.

The aura has to be observed with your peripheral, or side
vision.

If something happens, and the aura disappears, don't worry.
Continue observing it, calmly, and patiently and it will
reappear.

In the early stages, the aura will tend to disappear quite a
bit. This is quite normal. Keep at it and this will happen
less and less, as you master the viewing technique.

Step 3:

Once you have completed the first steps, gather several
books and wrap them, each in a different primary colour.

The brighter the colour - the brighter the aura - and the
easier it is to see.

Study these coloured books, one at a time, and write down the
colours you see.

Observe the books, two at a time, and watch how their auric
colours affect each other.

Move them around, mix them, sit them on top of each other,
observe them all in a row.

Step 4:

Get a pot plant, or some fresh flowers, and study their aura.
The aura you will see around them is a living aura. Keep in
mind the effects of the auric colours from the petals and
leaves. The orange hue you will see, around the green parts of
the plants stems and leaves, comes from the auric colour of
green - the same as with observing a green book. Some of the
other colours, with flowers, will come from the colours of the
petals.

You will see a more distinct etheric and a stronger
shimmering, optical effect around the plant.

Living auras are more subtle and, thus, a little harder to
see, than a simple colour's aura. With practise, though, the
auras of plants will become much easier to see.

Step 5:

Observe the aura of a tree. Pick a good sized tree that you
can view, highlighted against the sky. It is best to observe
it with the sun behind you, early in the morning or late in
the day. If
the sun, or any strong reflection, is in your eyes, it will
make this very difficult to do.

The shimmering around the tree will be much more imposing and
intense, than with a small plant. The colour of a tree's aura
will also be influenced, not only by the colours of the leaves
and bark, but also by the colour of the sky itself. On a
sunny day, a tree's aura will appear to be a shade of blue.
On a cloudy day, it will appear to be creamy-grey.

Viewing distance: Experiment with this, as it depends upon
the size of the tree. Make sure you can see the entire top
of the tree in your field of view. You need to be, approximately,
three times the height of the tree away from it, or more.

A tree's aura can be huge, depending upon the size of the tree
and how strong it is. At the top of the tree's aura you can
sometimes see a fountaining effect, as if it's aura were
slowly spraying up out of it. I am not sure what causes this,
and I have not seen this with every tree I have observed.
Some people say it is the tree's spirit, or a nature spirit
living inside the tree, that causes it. Some trees do seem
to have a kind of consciousness within them, so this may be
true.

Step 6:

For the next step, use an animal, any animal: a dog,
cat, kangaroo, camel, lion, tiger, elephant, etc, if you have
access to one. Try and observe them when they are resting.
Animal auras are not as colourful as human auras, but they
are still very good practise.
Keep in mind, that the colour of the animals coat will affect
the colour of it's aura.

Disease can be detected in the aura of an animal, the same as
with a human subject. This makes observing them very good
practise, for diagnosing the early signs of disease in an
aura.

Step 7:

Observe your own aura: This can be done outside, with the Sun
behind you, or inside, against a neutral background. Hold
your arm out and study your hand and forearm. You can also
lay down and observe the aura of your feet and legs.

Step 8:

A human subject:

In the beginning, it is best to observe the human aura in two
stages:

Stage 1:

Have your subject wear a colourful shirt, dress or jumper -
anything will do. Use any colour but blue - do not use blue -
as this will flood and hide the yellow of the intellect, the
colour most commonly seen around the head area.

Make sure their upper neck area is bare. Observe their
shoulder area, using the same setting and technique, as with
the original book. You will see the colour of the shirt
easily, building up around their shoulder.

*Make sure you continue to do the mental opening action - with
all these exercises.

When the shirt's aura is clear around their shoulder area,
shift your gaze slightly higher - so you are gazing past their
bare neck area. Keep the shirt's aura in view - don't change
what you are doing - and see what other colours you can pick
up around their bare neck.

This exercise makes sure your eyes and brow centre are working
together, as with the book.

Do not focus directly on your subject's neck! All auras must
be gazed at and observed with peripheral vision.

You should begin to see a slightly different colour, building
up near the top of their shirts auric colour - around their
bare neck and head.

Now, shift your gaze slightly higher, so your line of sight is
level with their head area. Keep your gaze relaxed and don't
change anything. You should see some yellow around this
area.

When you see a little, ask your subject to do some mental
arithmetic, or think hard about something. See if their aura
brightens when they do this.

Stage 2:

Get your volunteer to remove some of their upper clothing.
Study a bare skin area, against a neutral background - the
same as with the book. The upper arm and shoulder area is
the best place to start your observation.

With bare skin, the first thing you will see is a slight
shimmering effect, a fuzziness in the air near the skin.
Next, you will see the etheric aura build up from their skin.
This looks like creamy, pale-blue smoke, clinging to their
skin. This is quite distinct and normally about half an inch
deep.

Hold your focus and the aura's main colours will begin to
build up, and out, from the etheric aura. It will first
appear as a narrow band of colour, highlighting the edge of
the etheric aura. This will appear and disappear, grow and
shrink, quite a bit. This part is very frustrating, but keep
at it and it will get easier. The colour will slowly grow
larger and become thicker and more well defined. Hold your
focus and it will grow to several inches or more thick. The
main aura may vanish and reappear many times, as I said, while
it is building up. This is caused by blinking and minute
shifts in your focus, and cannot be helped.
Tip:

The brightness of a person's aura has a lot to do with their
mood and how they feel. If they feel happy and full of
life, their aura will be much stronger, larger and
brighter. Try playing their favourite music, or crack a few
jokes and have a good laugh. This will help to energise their
aura and make it easier for you to see it.

24. Another letter:

Here is another email letter. It describes a very unusual
first sighting of an aura:

Rick: "I want to relate to you an event yesterday that was
kind of unusual.

I was sitting in church, just staring at the choir,
when I saw an incredible white light, sort of like a
shadow, and three of the choir members had this white
light shooting up to the ceiling and turning blue and
green. It was like looking at a bright, multicoloured X
ray.

It was an awesome experience. I had a chill run down my
spine and I thought "WOW!" and blinked - and it was gone.

Question: What the heck was that -- I assume it was
an aura?"

Me: You were, by the sound of it, in a very relaxed
state, and carried away, uplifted, by the spiritual
singing of the choir. This must have stimulated your
energy body and brow centre, causing spontaneous auric
sight, making it possible for you to see the choir's
aura, while it was flaring.

What you have seen is the human aura flaring, in an
excited state. This is a rare and truly beautiful sight.
I have only ever seen this once myself.

The flaring aura's of the choir would have been caused
by a charged, devotional atmosphere in the church, and
the hymn the choir were singing at the time. This must
have stirred deep spiritual feelings and uplifted them.
The white, changing to blue and green, rising auras you
saw, came from their throat and heart chakras. These
are higher spiritual colours and are affected by emotions
of spirituality and love.

TRAINING TO SEE AURAS V4 Part 5

21. Spirit Energy:

There is always a lot of spirit energy and activity,
surrounding a dying person, in the days and weeks prior to
their death. The amount of this spirit activity seems to
depend greatly upon their belief system, as well as their
moral, spiritual and psychic development.

The strongest I have ever felt this - high level spirit energy
and activity - is around dying children. Children seem to be
a lot more aware of their spirituality than adults give them
credit for. We, adults, seem to lose so much of this
awareness - of our spiritual and divine nature - as we grow
older.

I have been in the presence of many dying children. The only
way I can describe this is that, at these special times, I
have been in a holy presence - far beyond my poor
understanding of reality. Children gain a special kind of
wisdom and a high level of spiritual understanding - and
they have no fear of death.

Accidents:

I have never had the opportunity to observe the
aura of someone dying, shortly after an accident, so cannot
comment on this aspect of death.

Premature death:

I have, though, known healthy, vital people,
that have died suddenly, from strokes, heart attacks and brain
aneurisms. I have observed them, in the days and weeks prior
to their premature deaths. I have noted similar changes, as I
might expect to see in a dying person: very milky-pale-blue
expanded auras, silver and white sparks, and lots of spirit
energy and activity around them. These people, though, were
not sick. They were all, healthy, vital people, but there
was something quite different about them - an indefinable
atmosphere. In all cases, they seemed to know, intuitively
(but not consciously) that their time in this world was nearly
up. They all did certain things, tidied up their affairs, or
made things right in some way, in the days and weeks prior to
their death.

22. Why Most People Fail To See Auras:

The most common reason why people fail to see an aura, is
simply the way they go about it. The human aura is _not_ a
good training ground for the beginner.

This is what usually happens: Your volunteer sits and waits,
for a very long time, while you struggle and strain for a
glimpse of their aura. You are trying to relax and
concentrate - and master a tricky visual technique - all at
the same time. You subconsciously worry about what they
are thinking of you. Are they getting bored? Are they
getting impatient? Do they think you foolish, a failure, or
both? This kind of pressure causes subtle tensions to
build up within you, that effectively negate the relaxed
state needed to see the aura. Trying to get results, under
this kind of pressure, as a beginner, is next to impossible.

Here is an email letter from a young man. It shows some
common misunderstandings, when auras are first encountered:

David: "I was sitting in economics class, when I started
to see a faint white glow around the lecturer's head
(not really though, I can't really describe it), it was
surrounding the sides of his head.

And, I could also see a similar one, coming
from one of the students sitting in front of him,
except the student's had a sort of bluish tinge to it.
I kept looking, and a bright yellow glow appeared around
his head. Then I started to see a similar white glow
coming from some of the computer monitors, that sit on
the desks. At first, I was hoping that I could see
auras, but then when I saw it on the monitors,
I had my doubts."

Me: Every living and non living thing has an aura,
including monitors. The reason you saw them when you did
is (let me guess) You were bored, tired, very relaxed,
maybe day dreaming a little. Your eyes were tired,
heavy, and you were having trouble keeping them open?
These are the PERFECT conditions for seeing an aura!

David: "That's exactly how It was! The discussion sort of
went off topic and wasn't all that interesting to me."

"Anyway, I was wondering if you can tell me if
I actually did see their auras. I tried staring at
myself in the mirror to see my aura, when I got home, and
tried to see a friends aura, but it didn't work. I
haven't been able to see an aura, since that day, a
week or two ago. As for some of my questions. I
was wondering what colours non-living objects give
off - is it white? How come the aura was brighter
around their heads?"

Me: You did see the aura! The colours given off by non-
living objects vary with the colour of the object, but
inanimate objects, generally, have a simple pale, creamy
aura surrounding them. The aura you saw, surrounding the
heads of the people around you, was their etheric aura -
which is a pale, creamy colour, usually with a pale blue
tint to it.

The human aura is brighter around the head area, for two
reasons:

1. Clothing blocks the aura.

2. The head area is usually bare (no clothing to block it)
and is where the yellow of the intellect is most active,
which is quite easy to see. This yellow varies in
intensity, according to the degree of mental activity going
on at the time the aura is seen. This, mental activity,
brightens the aura in the head area. Maybe the student you
observed was really on the ball that day?

The main point of showing you this letter is: David began to
see the aura, with no trouble at all, when he was tired and
not trying to see it. He was tired, bored and day dreaming
(a very relaxed state). David was struggling to stay awake
and forcing his eyes to stay open. This _forcing_ his eyes to
stay open, creates a strong mental opening action, at the site
of the brow centre - between the eyes. This stimulates the
brow centre and combined with a relaxed, un-focussed gaze,
causes spontaneous auric sight to occur.

When David tried to see an aura, later at home, he could not -
because he was wide awake and trying, and was no longer in a
relaxed enough state for auric sight to work.

Keep this, above, in mind - when you first attempt to use
auric sight!

23. How To See An Aura: (basic technique)

To see the aura, you have to be able to relax and
concentrate, at the same time, and there is a trick to
focusing your eyes in a special way.

* An aura must be gazed upon - not looked at *

Light:

First, you need plenty of good, soft light to train in, not
dim, but good soft light. It is very important not to have
any strong light shining or reflecting into your eyes. It is
best to have light coming from behind and above you. If you
have, say a window, flooding light into the room, in your
field of view, while trying to see an aura, it will distract
you and make an aura much more difficult to see. A hundred
watt bulb, coming from above and behind you, is fine.

Step 1:

Get a book and cover it in bright, primary blue or red
paper. Stand it upright, on a table, six or seven feet from
you (about 2 metres). Experiment with the distance until you
find what is just right for you, but the minimum distance
should be no less than 4 feet (1.2 meters). Make sure you
have a plain, fairly neutral background. Do not view it
against a brightly coloured wall, or garish wallpaper. If
the wall colour is wrong, hang a sheet of neutral coloured
paper or cloth on the wall, as a backdrop. A bed sheet, or
some sheets of butchers paper, taped to the wall, will do
fine.

Notes:

A.The book is only a prop for the coloured paper, i.e., it
is the aura of the coloured paper you are going to look at
- not the aura of the book. Using a brick, covered in
coloured paper, would give the same result as would hanging
a piece of coloured paper on the wall.

B.The auras of the colours blue and red are, by far, the
brightest and easiest to see.

C.The brightness and tone of a colour's aura varies with
the shade and tone of the colour used, so use bright
primary colours only.

D.You can use any brightly coloured item for this: clothing,
kitchen canisters, toys, or even tape squares of coloured
paper directly to a wall.

Step 2:

Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and relax. When you
are calm, look at the book. Focus your eyes on nothing,
a little to the side and just past it. This is as if you
were gazing at, but not focusing on, the wall behind it.

The whole idea is to totally relax the focus of your eyes and
view the subject with your peripheral, or side vision. By
side vision, I mean just to the side of your normal focused
area of sight (a couple of inches only) not out of the corner
of your eye.

Gently hold that gaze and relax your eyes. Get used to that
relaxed focus and try not to strain or tense your eyes or
forehead while doing it. Concentrate! You need an
intense, but very relaxed and steady gaze, similar to day-
dreaming.

Blinking:

When you need to blink, do so, or it will cause your eyes
to tense, burn and water. Blink normally and without changing
focus, and DO NOT become preoccupied with it. Blinking
will cause the aura you are viewing to disappear - for a
second or two only - but it will reappear quickly - if you
stay calm and hold a relaxed focus. Learning to hold your
focus, while blinking normally, is an important part of
learning to use auric sight.

Brow centre opening technique:

It is necessary to use some type of brow centre opening
exercise, in order to stimulate your brow centre into a
receptive mode. This allows you to receive the energy
surrounding your subject - as auric sight. It is possible to
see the aura of colour without doing this, but it is very
difficult to see a living aura, without first stimulating and
opening your brow centre.

*** Please pay _very_ close attention to what follows! ***

Remember what it is like to be very, very tired - totally
exhausted? Remember what it feels like when you haven't slept
for days, and can hardly keep your eyes open?

Remember what it feels like when your eyes keep trying to
close on you? Remember what it is like to have to wrestle
with your eyes to keep them open?

This causes a sensation, if you observe yourself closely, much
like you are trying to lift a heavy, shadowy veil, from behind
your eyes. When this happens, the muscles of your eyes are
not responding very well, so the action becomes almost
entirely mental.

Stop for a moment and remember what this feels like.

Wrestling to open tired eyes causes a strong mental opening
action, at the site of the brow centre - thereby stimulating
it.

How this works:

This mental opening action, focuses your bodily awareness at
the site of your brow centre.

When your bodily awareness is focussed at one area of your
body, and you manipulate that area with your mind, you
stimulate your energy body in that area - in a dynamic way.

If this mental opening action is continued for long enough,
and put enough mental effort into it, your brow centre (your
third eye) will begin to open.

If you carry out this mental opening action, when you are
relaxed, and have a subject in your field of view - and you
are not looking directly at your subject - spontaneous auric
sight will occur.

The mental opening action given here is similar, only _much_
stronger and more effective than the normal, visualisation
based, chakra opening techniques; taught by most other
teachers of psychic development and energy work.
Visualisation based energy work, on it's own, is weak and
obtuse and very difficult to learn and use.

The Primary Energy Centres And Their Colours

+--------------+--------+
| Chakra Name | Colour |
+--------------+--------+
| Base | Red |
| Spleen | Orange |
| Solar Plexus | Yellow |
| Heart | Green |
| Throat | Blue |
| Brow | Violet |
| Crown | Gold |
+--------------+--------+
Table 2: Names and Colours of the
primary energy centres (chakras)

Locations of the seven primary energy centres (major chakras)

1. Base: base of spine (between anus and genitals)
2. Spleen: navel area
3. Solar Plexus: base of sternum
4. Heart: centre of chest (over heart)
5. Throat: base of throat, just above where it joins the chest
6. Brow: exact centre of forehead (between the eyes)
7. Crown: whole top of head, above the hairline

Notes:

Each primary is best thought of as - roughly the size of your hand.

Each primary has more than one functioning part (or petal).

The _exact_ location of sensations felt, when a primary centres is
active will vary slightly - depending on what part of that centre
(or petal) is active. E.G. The spleen centre is usually felt
between the tummy button and pubic line. The brow centre is often
felt between the eyebrows, instead of on the actual brow.

16. Basic Hue Classification:

The basic hue of an aura is it's dominant colour. This is
the most visible colour of the multiple energies generated by
all the chakras (mixed together) creating a general, overall
colour. There are, of course, many different colours in any
person's aura, but the basic hue is usually seen first.

Many people suggest that people can be classified, as being a
particular type of person, by the basic hue of their aura.

For example:

Red - sensuality, vitality, raw energy.

Orange - emotion.

Yellow - personality power, mental power, intellect.

Green - spirituality, love, affinity with nature,
natural healer.

Blue - highly spiritual, religious, natural teacher,
healer.

Violet - very highly spiritual, psychic, clairvoyance,
religious, teacher and healer.

Gold - highly advanced spirituality and psychic
abilities - an adept.

I have found this method of classification to be both unfair
to the person being classified, and extremely misleading.
The basic meanings of the individual colours are well known -
as above. I find the human aura to be such a complex and
changeable engine, it just cannot be classified in such a
simple way.

For example: if a person, with a predominantly blue aura, is
experiencing an emotional crisis, their aura will be flooded
with large patches of orange. This is a temporary state only,
and once the crisis is resolved, their aura will revert to
it's natural blue.

There are so many things that can temporarily change the
appearance of an aura - sometimes just for an hour or more.
Devotional worship, for example, generates high minded
feelings and deep spiritual love. An unstable, emotional,
dominant and violent person, who's aura is, say, naturally red
and orange, with streaks of black in it - can generate higher
spiritual colours, during worship. These will temporarily
flood their aura, giving them the appearance (to auric sight)
of being a very spiritual person - but hiding their "true
colours" and hence, their true nature.

Jock:

Blue: Jock was a young man I knew, several years ago. He was
an extremely vital, sensitive man, but was very unstable,
having a lot of problems. Jock was a deep thinker, and we
would often expound upon the meaning of life and the nature of
the universe, together. At times like this I would often see
a lovely spiritual blue, surrounding him.

Red: Now, once Jock had a few drinks in him (alcohol), he
could become extremely aggressive, violent and dangerous - at
the drop of a hat. At times like this, I would see his aura
change dramatically, in moments, to a bright, angry red, with
big orange patches and black streaks in it. Not a trace of
his original blue aura would remain. This, red, orange and
black colour, would stay with him, until he calmed down
completely and sobered up.

Dan:

Dan was an old friend of mine, with a naturally green aura.
When Dan has a problem, his mind goes into overdrive, trying
to find a solution to his problem. His aura then changes to
bright yellow, flooding strongly through his aura. This
reverts to it's original green, very quickly, once he has
found a solution. I have often observed this, while playing
chess with him. Every time he gets into a sticky situation,
his aura floods yellow.

Gardening:

When I have been gardening - having a lot of
physical contact with plants - the aura around my hands and
forearms changes to a lovely green. This green fades away a
few hours later. Close contact with plants seems to have an
effect on the energy body. Maybe this is where the old saying
comes from "Having a green thumb" - for gardening.

These examples demonstrate the changeable nature of the human
aura, in a very general way. An aura is a variable reflection
of the energy activity going on within a person. This
reflection is detected by the brow centre of the observer, and
interpreted, as coloured bands of light, by the sight centre
of their brain. Health, mood, emotion, strong thoughts,
drugs, and other influences, stimulate many different energy
patterns in the primary and secondary energy centres. These
different patterns change the overall quality of the energy
being reflected into the aura. This generates many different
colours - which changes the auras dominant colours.

17. The Human Aura And Colour:

The human aura is very sensitive to colour. It reacts to
the colours of clothing worn and to the colours of it's
surrounding area. Colour affects the subtle flow of energies
within the energy body. This accounts for our strong
natural likes and dislikes, when it comes to choosing the
colours we wear, and those that surround us.

This sensitivity varies, from person to person, depending upon
how sensitive they are and how sensitive their aura is.
Women, generally, have more delicate and sensitive auras than
men. They are, therefore, far more sensitive to the effects
of colour, than men are. Colour can have a strong effect on a
very sensitive person. If they wear a colour that clashes too
badly with their aura, it can make them physically ill.

The effect of colour on the emotions is well known. Wall
colours are carefully chosen, in hospitals and other
institutions, to calm agitated people and put them at ease.
Soft pastel shades of pink and blue are the most frequently
used colours for this, because of their well-known calming
effect.

18. Clothing:

It is impossible to get a clear view of an aura through
clothing. The auric colours given off by any coloured
clothing react with the wearer's aura. This causes
interference that blocks and changes the natural flow of
energies within an aura. For example: a blue shirt will
flood the wearer's natural aura with yellow - changing it's
appearance.

Even neutral coloured clothing will block and dim an aura -
making it dull and difficult to see. If, for example, you
observe the aura of a person wearing a red shirt: their aura
will contain a great deal of green. This shows why bare skin
is best, in order to get a clear view of an aura.

When a coloured material is worn, the band of colour seen
close to the material is the reverse auric colour of that
colour. The aura's real colours will be seen building up from
the outer edge of that colour. The reverse auric colour of
the material, and the true colours of the living aura, affect
each other - changing their natural colours.

19. Disease:

This shows up in the aura in many different ways, sometimes
weeks or months before any physical symptoms appear. An ear
infection, for example, will show up in an aura as a
gradually thickening shadow over the ear and side of the head.
This can be seen several days before any physical symptoms
appear. The shadow will begin as a light-grey smudge,
gradually thickening and darkening. It will eventually change
to a murky-green patch, about the size of your hand. As the
infection worsens it will become shot through with red and
orange streaks, flecks and sparks.

A shadow in the aura is the first sign of _any_ approaching
health problem.
Murky-green, with red and orange streaks, flecks and sparks,
is common to infection.

20. Death:

When a person is dying, their aura undergoes dramatic
changes. I have observed the auras of people, dying of
terminal cancer and other diseases, in the weeks prior to
their death. The first noticeable sign is when the aura fades
and begins to grow weaker and paler. Next (with long term
illnesses) a week or so before physical death, the aura begins
to expand and change. It changes into a beautiful (very pale)
milky-blue, shot through with faint, tiny, silver and white
sparks. These sparks flash and twinkle throughout the aura.
Each spark is only visible for a fraction of a second at a
time.

*Note: The aura of a dying person is a very pale milky-blue.
It is VERY pale and faint and VERY difficult to see. It is
quite common to see a pale-blue aura surrounding a healthy
person, and this does NOT mean they are about to die. The
aura of a dying person is quite different from a normal,
healthy, pale-blue. It is all one colour, much larger than
normal, very milky and very faint.

Closer to the time of death, the aura begins to pulsate,
swelling and shrinking erratically. At times it will fill
the entire room, becoming more of an atmosphere than an aura.
At other times it will be so shrunken as to be almost
invisible to auric sight. It grows paler and finer by the
day, and the tiny silver and white sparks become finer and
increase in frequency.

There is a great deal of activity in all the energy centres,
at this time. The energy body is preparing itself for the
final separation - of the physical body from the non-physical
body (or spirit). There are, at times, faint surges of colour
and faint coloured sparks, like pastel fountains, surging and
falling from the primary centres. They spasm and shudder and
begin generating a much higher and more refined type of
energy. This change heralds the imminent and final
separation, of the spirit from the physical body - what we
call death.

The above is 'not' to be mistaken for the normal pale-blue and
sparks that can be seen in a healthy human aura. The above
observation is not visible to any normal level of auric sight,
but requires some degree of clairvoyance, ie, the ability
to see mind's eye visions.

At some time (variable) before physical death, the aura will
become almost invisible to auric sight. Only a faint, very
pale glow will still be seen, close to the skin. This is
residual etheric matter, clinging to the physical body. There
is, however, still intense activity going on within the energy
body, but this is now far beyond the reach of normal auric
sight.

The aura is now reflecting itself into a much higher level of
reality - another dimension. Clairvoyant and astral sight are
necessary, in order to see any more energy activity, during
the final stages of the death process.

At the actual moment of death, if you are watching closely,
you will see a very faint, pale mist, surge up out of the
body, and quickly vanish. This is the spirit leaving the
physical body. That faint mist is residual etheric matter,
clinging to the spirit body, as it departs.

The actual timing for these changes in the aura to occur,
depend greatly upon the type of illness, the duration of it,
and the strength of the dying person. These govern the speed
of the actual death process. With some conditions, this whole
process can happen very quickly, often a matter of hours.
With other conditions, this may happen over several days,
weeks or even months.
